Munsell ColorChecker White Balance Card
For an optimum white balance.
Gretag-Macbeth Munsell ColorChecker White Balance provides in a controlled studio environment an accurate custom white balance which ensures an accurate image from the start of each new photo session.
The perceived color of white often changes based on ambient conditions - outdoor it is perceived to be cooler, indoor it is perceived to be warmer and under fluorescent light it is perceived to be greener.
The Munsell ColorChecker White Balance card is a full size version of the white reference square used in the standard 24-patch ColorChecker. This white is scientifically engineered to provide a precise uniform surface that is spectrally neutral (reflects equal amounts of red, blue and green) in all types of light conditions. The photographer can now have confidence that the camera’s raw image is as close to real life as possible.

Caution: In 2011 the white balance standard has changed from Munsell N9.5 into Munsell N8, the white field is now darker than before. You cannot use older cards and the new cards at once and with the measuring data from the older. Please look at "more images" to see the comparison of the spectral curve from both for comparison.
This standard was changed form the Munsell Laboratories from N9.5 in N8, so that the actual cards are darker than the earliers is not a reason for reclamations. The darker cards fulfill their function as good as theolder cards.
